As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep. The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions. Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features Intelligent Dirt Detection, that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
